This three way interview took place in October 2021; Jason was in New York, Atif in a Washington state prison, and I was in Vancouver. Flom’s podcasts are now the single greatest lifeline for the wrongly convicted.
Do not ever underestimate the power of media to turn wrongful convictions in a new direction. Think of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery and how their killings would have gone unremarked were it not for the eye of the cellphone camera. Some will stop at nothing to protect the shoddy work and even malice that pervades our societies and even our so-called justice systems. But if people (and juries) can see for themselves, it’s a lot harder to obfuscate and outright lie.

That may be the best podcast I have ever heard! Thanks to you Ken, Jason, and all involved. It is so. so sad how our justice system is so wrong sometimes …so, so arrogant … so, so intransigent … and filled too often with low IQ people with even lower empathy. I never hear about Sebastian anymore, and that makes me even sadder, as his coping ability was not up to Atif’s incredible level.
Couldn’t agree more about the system, Jack. So many are invested in reputation: their own departments, the next election and their inflated egos. I will send your response on to Jason.
