Outing the Law: a Website on Injustice

Burns/Rafay: Where do we go from here?

It is now time to look at the future, as to whether Burns and Rafay have futures at all. The only possibility for them now, as I see it, is for the Washington Innocence Project to secure the evidence from a horrific crime that occurred in 1994 and to have it tested for DNA. One advantage of doing those tests now is that the technology has improved (I would say) vastly. The database is much wider–largely attributable to 9/11–and the ability of scientists to produce fuller portraits of potential suspects is light years beyond what was available in the era the crime was committed. Yes, there is DNA and yes, there are suspects.

To live with this tragedy as a human being who has contact with one of the victims of injustice is agonizing. To live with this ongoing tragedy as the false perpetrator of a crime–especially the murder of one’s own family–is beyond supportable.

  1. Hello Ken,

    Thank you for your website.

Have you any idea on how long it will take to have the result of DNA tests and file a motion to vacate Atif and Sebastian ? Another 10 years ?

Another question more personnel, if you agree. Are you in touch with Sebastian’s parents and sister ? Do you know where do they go from here ?
